7 weeks and counting!

I cannot believe that our little baby Kyla will be 7 weeks old tomorrow!  Time sure does fly when you aren't pregnant!  We have loved having her in our home--she is such a good baby and brings such a wonderful spirit into our lives!  She is a really easy baby-for which I am very grateful!  She lets Parker crawl all over her and maul her with hugs and kisses.  She is a sleepy baby and can sleep through just about anything!  She even sleeps through the night already.  (I know--I am so blessed!)   She is growing so fast!  Here are a few pictures of the last little while.

Kyla's Blessing

We have such wonderful families!  I am constantly reminded of that fact anytime we get together with either my family or Curtis' family.  They are so good to us!  We were glad that most of them could make it to Kyla's blessing and support us in that.  The day turned out wonderful and it was good to get to visit with everyone.  Kyla has been such a HUGE blessing in our lives!  Here are a few pictures of the day.  I was hoping to get a couple of good family pictures, but Parker just wanted to be down running around and DID NOT want to get his picture taken.  Luckily I got 1 good picture where he is smiling.

Halloween

We had a fun Halloween.  My favorite part was dressing the kids up!  My monkey and ballerina were the cutest!  (Although I think they are pretty cute even when they aren't dressed up!)

I tried so hard to get a picture of his tail, but he wouldn't cooperate for that.
Cute ballerina baby!

WE LOVE FALL!

We love the fall time!  There are so many fun things to do!  We went to the pumpkin walk this year, although Parker's favorite part of that was riding the bus.  We also played in the leaves, carved pumpkins, went for walks, and played at the park.

Parker's favorite part of playing in the leaves was throwing them.

Helpful Brother

Parker LOVES his little sister Kyla.  I can't tell you how grateful that I am for this!  He is such a good helper.  He loves to help change her diaper and her clothes.  He is also wonderful about getting her binky to her when she is crying.  He also LOVES giving her hugs, kisses, and bear hugs.  The first thing he asks every morning is, "Where's Kyla?"  He is such a WONDERFUL big brother!

Also, I just have to say what a joy Parker is to have in our home.  He is learning so much and picks up on things so fast.  (Sometimes a little too fast for his mom's liking...)  However, he is still 2 and we have some rough days.  A few weeks ago after a rough day he asked me to come and lie down next to him in bed "for a few minutes."  So I did.  What a great blessing to me!  I asked him to sing me a song and he immediately picked "I am a child of God."  That was what I needed to end a hard day and remind me how blessed I am to have these wonderful children in my home.  That simple song was such a tender mercy for me.  I am so grateful for my children!

Kyla Rae Crockett

Kyla Rae Crockett was born on September 25, 2012 at 7:55 AM.  She came in weighing 8 lbs 3 oz and was 20 inches long.  (It's a good thing that they took her a week early!)  She is such a good baby so far!  Mostly she just eats and sleeps, she hasn't really cried much at all.  (Let's keep our fingers crossed that this pattern continues!!!)  We are so in love with her and are so glad she is part of our family!!!

Where has the summer gone?

So I really don't know where this summer has gone...Thinking that I was going to be pregnant over the whole summer made me think that it was going to go by REALLY slow.  Well, it DID NOT!  It has been busy, but lots of fun!  (Just so you know, this blog is more of a journal/scrapbook for our family...so this may be a long post, so be forewarned.)

Yes, falling asleep happened regularly...
JUNE:  We went camping with the Falslev's and did lots of 4-wheeling.  Guess who the only person that Parker wanted to ride with was?  Yep, you guessed it...GRANDPA.  Actually, he kicked and screamed most, if not all of the way, when he was riding with Curtis and I.  He had lots of fun with Trey though.
CHEESE!!!

We also got to do a little hiking...we were trying to find some cave, but we never found it.  The view at the top was really good though!
On the way back down the mountain, we were riding  down the same trail that we had come up on...well after Jason, Shelece, and Josh all made it through, this tree decided to fall in the middle of the road.  Honestly, it was a miracle that it didn't fall when any of us were going through there, because we were all riding pretty close together.  Lucky for us, a big truck came and was able to move it out of the way.  If it hadn't been for that, I don't know how we would have gotten around it.

Our cute little mischief maker!
It was a really fun camping trip and we were glad that we got to go!

JULY: We got to go to the zoo with some of the Falslev's.  It was a blast!  The only day that it rained--but I much preferred the rain to the scorching heat!  Parker and Trey loved all the animals.  It was so much fun watching them watch the animals.

AUGUST: We went to Island Park/Yellowstone with the Crockett's.  We had lots of fun...besides chasing a rowdy 2 year old all over the place.  Seriously, I swear that Parker's goal in life is to be a running back--who never gets caught.  He honestly gets the biggest kick out of people running after him--it is the BEST game.  (Except the people who have to chase him down don't think that it is that fun...)

After we got back from this trip we went to church the next day and I was out in the hallway with the sunbeams letting them get a drink.  I heard Parker's squeal of delight--and sure enough--he had escaped and was running down the hall.  He was, of course, leading the rest of the pack of nursery children running down the hall screeching at the top of his lungs.  The nursery leaders were trying their best to make them stop running, but it was to no avail until they caught up with them and dragged all the kids back to nursery.  Needless to say, we've decided that Parker is the ringleader for trouble in there.

Here are some pictures of our trip.

Reading lots of books in the car--Parker did really well for how much we drove.

Mesa Falls--Parker was not very happy in this picture because he was
getting carried...he'd run away too many times...go figure.

We also floated the river while we were up there, and to my surprise Parker did really well!  That was one of our favorite things that we did on the trip, but I didn't get any pictures.

My little Sister Jannalea also came up at the end of August to visit and help me.  (Yes, I know, SO LUCKY to have such good family!)  Parker's favorite thing about having her here was waking her up in the morning and making her read books to him.  She was a trooper and helped me so much with canning and freezing things!  Thanks Jan!

SEPTEMBER:  We got to go to the Brigham City temple dedication.  It was a BEAUTIFUL temple!  We had to wait in line for a super long time, with a super cranky 2 year old...but I think that next time, we just might leave the 2 year old at home if we have one.  :)

My sister Shantel also got her mission call!!!  YEAH!  She is going to the Budapest Hungary Mission and she leaves on January 23.  We are so excited for her and know she will be a great missionary!

We have been busy with lots of different things this this summer...a few projects here and there, but mostly our garden.  I have to say that our efforts at gardening this year are by far the most successful that we have had since we have been married.  It is so wonderful to get produce from your own garden.  Maybe it was the way that I grew up, but it makes me so happy.  I was also able to can, freeze, and dry lots of different things this year.  Some of those things included: tomatoes, salsa, green beans, broccoli, peas, corn, beets, pickled peppers, pickles, peppers, zucchini, strawberry jam, jalapeno jelly, onions, fruit leather, and peaches.  Needless to say, I feel pretty good about that accomplishment.

We were also able to go to a concert in Wendover with some friends...the concert was good.  I have to say that watching really drunk people is hilarious.  That was half the fun of going I think.

I also sewed a car seat cover for our new little girl.  Considering that I don't sew that often, I thought it turned out pretty cute.

We were also able to go to the Utah State vs. Utah football game.  It was so crowded that we had to stand the whole time.  It was SUCH a good game!  GO AGGIES!  We were so happy that they won the game...it totally made it worth it to see the shocked, horrified expressions on the faces of the Utah fans who were standing next to us the whole game declaring over and over how much better their school was than USU.  That was definitely my favorite part of the game.

Other than that, keeping up with Parker keeps me plenty busy!  He is such a 2 year old...he can go from being the most helpful, happy kid to the most ornery, obstinate child in about 2 seconds flat.  Sometimes it makes me wonder how I am going to do it with 2 children, but I know that we'll somehow survive.  Some of Parker's favorite things to do this summer have included: helping dad till the garden, mowing the lawn, reading books, looking at animal books, looking at the animals at the zoo, singing songs, RUNNING, playing with cars and trucks, and watching movies (especially Lightning McQueen--aka Cars).

Our Happy Parker
Now we are just getting ready for this little baby girl to get here!  We are so excited for her to arrive.  Parker loves little babies and so hopefully he will be really good with "baby sister."  Not that I'm counting down the days, but only 5 more left until she gets here!
